The Philharmonic Orchestra of the Municipality of Sparta, with conductor Sarantos Kanellakos, will this year present a musical tribute to Greek cinema and Dionysis Savvopoulos.

On the one hand, the songs of Greek cinema constitute an integral part of our cultural heritage, as they became the connecting link between the public, the great composers, and the unforgettable eras of the "golden age" of cinema in the 50s, 60s, and 70s. Great creators, such as Manos Hatzidakis, Mikis Theodorakis, Mimis Plessas, and others, provided the music for unforgettable films.

On the other hand, the songs of Dionysis Savvopoulos managed to unite generations of Greeks. The great songwriter left behind an invaluable legacy and a fascinating musical journey. With humour, romanticism, and tenderness, he spoke through his songs about the joys of life and wittily satirised its absurd aspects.

A unique evening full of nostalgia, joy, emotion, and timeless melodies.
